About Nestia Stays
Nestia Stays is a holiday and contractor accommodation business with a portfolio of 40+ properties. The brief required much more than a standard accommodation website. Guests needed to be able to browse properties, check live availability, view accurate pricing and complete bookings online.
I designed and developed a custom WordPress booking platform integrated with Guesty, providing live availability, pricing and booking functionality across the Nestia Stays property portfolio.
Project Overview
The site was built using WordPress and Divi, giving the Nestia team flexibility to manage their content while providing a structured platform underneath.
Each of the 40+ properties is managed using a custom property structure, with information including:
- Location
- Guest capacity
- Bedrooms
- Amenities
- Property type
- Property images
- Availability and pricing
This allows visitors to search and filter the portfolio to quickly find suitable
Custom Booking Integration
The core of the project was developing a booking system that connects the website directly to Guesty, Nestia's property management platform.
Guesty manages availability across multiple booking channels, including Airbnb and Booking.com, so the website needed to reflect the same information accurately.
I developed a custom WordPress plugin integrating with the Guesty API to:
- Pull live availability
- Generate accurate pricing
- Create booking quotes
- Process bookings
- Prevent double bookings
- Synchronise reservation information
Payments are handled securely through Stripe, with sensitive payment information tokenised rather than stored on the website.
Solving Same-Day Turnovers
One of the more technical challenges was correctly handling same-day check-outs and check-ins
A standard availability calendar can incorrectly show a property as unavailable when one guest checks out in the morning and another guest can check in later that day.
The booking system therefore considers the underlying reservation information rather than simply blocking an entire calendar date. This allows genuine availability to remain bookable while preventing overlapping reservations.
Performance & User Experience
With more than 40 properties, performance was an important consideration.

For Nestia Stays, the website is much more than a brochure. It is an important part of the business's booking infrastructure, connecting the customer-facing website with the systems managing the properties and reservations behind the scenes.
